Countershaft sprocket.

I have a new to me 2001 ZRX1200R. I removed the seat for the first time today, found the rear handgrips (Ventura Rack fitted), spare hoses, plugs and a 17 tooth Countershaft sprocket. I assume this is the standard size.

I meant to count the teeth on the sprocket thats fitted when I returned from my ride, but forgot. I think mine has a smaller fron sprocket as it will wheelie easily under power in first (rather dramatically, as soon as the revs get up a bit) and seems to be a bit low geared in top, doing around 4,000 at 100kliks. I keep checking if it is in top and it is. It also toodles alng in traffic very slowly if no throttle is on.

What is the standard sprocket size, from and back?

I did a search but no good.

Hi Mate,

Rear: 42041-1387 SPROCKET-HUB,42T
Front: 13144-1283 SPROCKET-OUTPUT,17T

Hope this helps. For future reference I looked on the US Kawasaki site, it has parts manuals on-line: http://tinyurl.com/28qays

Hi Mick,

Congratulations on getting back on the bikes and onto a Rex specifically. I think that you'll find that a 16 tooth front is the smallest you can readilly get and your engine revs indicate that. Stock revs at 100km/h is about 3750-3800, so 4000 would match up toa 16 front.

Cheers,
Pete

I thought so, I have never ridden or heard or even seen a stock ZRX so I have no experience of it. The full Akro sounded good ridin through an old narrow railway tunnel and popping and cracking while engine braking. I came roaring around a downhill bend and backed off for a narrow bridge at the bottom. As I approached the bridge, I saw a little red haired girl waving to me, i gave her a wave and gunned it, the Akro thundered and she stared waving like mad. I'd forgotten about things like that, really made my day :D
