It's an 05.

Basically a tractor compared to my old GSXR. But it's two wheels and goes around corners alright.

I also use 98 octane, never any less. Unless it's a servo out in bumf-k that only has 95.

Filled up on the weekend with 243 on clock, reserve hadn't started to blink and fill up was 15.2L.

I am getting shocking mileage at the moment - the secondary TPS got trashed in the Great Leap of Faith, and I haven't replaced it yet........so the FI light is constantly on. (The secdondary flies were removed years ago, but even so, the ECU still needs to recognise the secondary TPS.....)

Apparently this locks the fueling map onto an *idle* setting ?? The response isn't so bad, but geez louise I am not even getting 200km out of tank just doing the daily commute !!

If anyone has a spare secondary TPS they want to sell - please send me a pm. I need one *bad*.....

filled up on 3rd, think it was around 260km and put in 19 litres on the dot. this time i was using the thirstier and more direct route to work, several traffic lights as opposed to route 2 where there's only 2, maybe 3 sets of lights but is 5 mins longer and is a good cruise at 80 flat almost all the way and mileage has consistently been better.

i have a preference for caltex 98... and i weigh 74 plus gear. and i keep my rpm below 4500, and keep start up time very short, having to use the manual choke after so long with the GSXR shits me!

I've heard removing the secondaries on the 12 just makes it run rougher. They are nowhere near as aggressive as the secondaries on the 14.

If I wanted economy I would buy a scooter ffs or take a bloody bus.

Whats wrong with you people with 12R's, they are a performance bike and as such use fuel, they were never designed to be efficient. If you have one and are worried about fuel consumption I HIGHLY suggest you sell that farka quick stix. It isnt the bike for you.

Get over it and ride it like it was designed for.

Yes, noticed a heap of difference taking out the secondary flies....some good, and some not so good.

The good ? You get total control over acceleration at every point in the rev range. So when you want to gas it up to pass a semi - you get maximum response instantly. With the secondary flies in place - they don't even start to open properly until 7k is on the tacho, so your response under 7k is nowhere near as *instant*.

They also make for good response on track days

The bad ? The motor takes longer to respond cleanly from cold starts - for the first few minutes you have to ride the clutch a bit to get the engine revs up, otherwise it bogs down a lot down low. Fuel economy also takes a dive which apparently is a massive issue on these bikes..............not. The bike doesn't run any *rougher* once it has warmed up ( refer Jpaddo's post) - and I like the instant response out on the highway (well anywhere really ).

thanks for the info mate its much appreciated!! did you have to get the bike retuned for this mod??PS the wreckers are theives with parts they often find out how much a new part is then knock 10% off.

I am pretty sure that the current map on my PCIII was set up for the secondary flies already removed ? But not 100% sure, all these mods were done over 5 years ago........I bought a heap of bits from a member here who had pranged his '05 12R, and all the good stuff had been done to his bike. It all just bolted up to mine and worked perfectly straight away.

I will be getting some work done to the old girl shortly - it needs the clearances done and a balance, and a few other little things. May even lash out and get a new full Ti system if I can track one down...an Arrow system would be grouse....

Hmmmm got me thinking now. Since I got the full system mine's a real bastard at < 2k RPM until thoroughly warmed up anyway.

Re Ti System Tsukigi make to order still. Not sure who else has em in Ti any more but I did a lot of hunting and couldn't turn up much.
