Well from personal experience. I think the 9 is a good bike to get.
But it all boils down to what YOU want out of it.
To me the 9 just felt more tame and easier to ride, not that the 10 is hard to ride, but this just shows the 9 is a good easy bike to ride and enjoy.
After we put aftermarket headers and the rest of the full exhaust system on it, it felt like it was so much more.
Its smooth and linear on power, handles really well, nice and comfy, has plenty of power and also better down low which is good for the street than the 10.
Bad points i guess, design could be seen as a bit outdated compared to the 10. ummm thats about all i can think of.
So i think all round youll come out a winner with a 9 esp if you get the last run of them. 03 would be an awesome bike

Love my 9. Bought it new 9 years ago to replace my stolen '92 CBR9. Great all rounder. Turns quick, tours well (I did 1300km on the last day of my return trip from P.I. last year), sounds horn and it's grunt still stands up well today. I still like the look of it too.
'Took a new BMW 1000 for a run last week. Very impressive bike! But when I got back on my 9 to ride back to work I was pleasantly surprised that it still measured up well.

Brakes certainly don't match the new BM, but an overdue calliper overhaul will bring the 9 back closer. Tank feels wide between my legs. Just got back from a run over Nebo & Glorious this morning. Still smiling

So it sounds like, the summation is:
No one that has ever bought a zx-9 has ever been disappointed!

Only ridden a C model 9 a while ago. Great bike. Good brakes, comfy yet sporty.Good looker too, even now. Felt tiny went hard. If they still made them new I would have bought one rather than my ZRX. Like the ZRX it needs a centrestand though.
