G'day guys,
I have just picked up a partially stripped 1993 ZXR750M. Some of you may have seen this on ebay recently, it was mentioned in another thread recently. Price was a fair bit lower than what the Buy-it-now listed price, so I figure it was well worth the punt for what it is.
All the good M specific parts appear there, as well as numerous boxes of bit's and pieces, mostly used, but a few duplicate parts and NOS parts.
The plan is to restore it back to roadworthy, registered condition as a sunny weekend ride. Despite my wanting to get back into the shed and get stuck into it, I am not looking to rush into it. The main priorities at the moment are:
1) Try to find out more about this specific bike's history;
2) Work out what is exactly there, what's missing, what needs replacing etc;
3) Strip the roller back to just a frame and start the resto;
4) Get in contact with people who own and have experience with these bikes to find out what to look out for and what to do to get it going.
If anyone knows anything about this specific bike I'd really appreciate hearing from you. I have receipts from the previous seller, but won't disclose their name publicly without their permission.
I'll start to post some pics as soon as I figure out how.
Cheers

First person I'd recommend contacting regarding anything "quick 750" would be Greenman43!
But there are plenty of others on here who are a wealth of information on ZXR750's!

See pic above......
In the mean time, it is currently a rolling chassis with polished frame and swingarm, black wheels with flouro yellow/green rim tape, tank painted metallic blue (J model blue), calipers and brembo radial m/c painted gold, braided lines with "braking" wavy discs.
Sound familiar?

Saw it on eBay is all.
Motor running?
Be good to see it finished and on the road or is it destined for the track?

Jim,
Motor is pulled down, bottom end is complete, head and cylinders seperate. As far as the story goes it was being restored as a non standard street bike when the owner went through a messy divorce. Chassis is all ok, but will be stripped back and finished as standard. I'll take the motor to a workshop to get rebuilt. Would like to keep it all standard M, but if there are any nasty suprises lurking in the engine I could always go fo an L or 9 motor just to get it going.
My plans are to make it a sunny weekend road bike, but I'm in no rush.
Cheers
