ZXR 750 L STARTER SOLENOID WIRING

Postby NINJAINOZ » Sun Feb 03, 2013 9:48 am

My ZXR has unfortunately had the starter solenoid plug butchered & someone has fitted a starter solenoid off a spaceship so I need to correct it & fit the brand new OEM solenoid that I have, I have a few different wiring diagrams but they dont actually show which wire goes to which of the 4 connectors?
Could someone please take a pic of their ZXR 750 (Preferably 93-95 L model) starter solenoid & wiring connector so I can see which wire goes to which on the 4 connectors on the solenoid
Muchly Appreciated

as far as I can see there's no adjustment other than at the lever!

I just finished off the battery mount & got the battery & wiring back in place, I have a new starter solenoid sitting in position & I just need to know what wires go to the 4 connectors? The solenoid is clearly marked with a B for battery & M for starter motor for the larger connectors & cables that part is easy, As mentioned the 4 pin plug has been removed so I dont know which wire would go onto which of the 4 connectors
My bike is sitting here ready to fire up with a new Lithium Ion battery & a brand new solenoid so im keen to see how it cranks over now

If anyone can get some clear pics of the starter solenoid & the 4-pin plug showing which wire goes where it would be great

The new cradle simply slides up into place & can be fixed to the plastic with screws or pop rivets, I used some little buttonhead screws for now incase I want to take it apart again for some reason
The new aluminium cradle weighs less than the original steel bracket that mounts on the shock & went under the battery

I have used some plastic washers to space the battery mount plate from the upper shock mount plate just the right distance to get the battery box plastic sitting back in its original position with plenty of clearance above the (newly fitted ZX7 shock) reservoir

At 0.8kg the new SSB Lithium Ion ( LITX9-BS ) Ultralite battery should be a noticeable weight reduction, It just feels like a plastic box when you pick it up

Wow thanks Jim, Thats a big help to me & possibly others with similar trouble? I was sure the 4-pin connector only had 3 wires because there was only 3 wires coming out of the harness in that spot after I tidied up the butcher work that was done to it previously, Im pretty fussy so I am going to get the wiring back to original wherever possible even though it is being built as a streetfighter

I will get some pics of the battery cradle / mount setup now it is fitted, Im very happy with how it turned out, There is almost 20mm between the battery mount & the reservoir & It is able to be removed easier than the stock setup with the shock mount plate in front of the battery, The battery does not have to be removed to disassemble it all

Anyone looking at fitting a ZX7 or ZX10 etc shock tto a ZXR 750 would surely like to see how easy this battery box mod is, I have not seen any other pictures of the battery box modified, I have read plenty of threads where people have done a bodge job by grinding away some of the stock battery mount

probably best to kick off your own thread about the clutch adjustment mate :kuda: - one of the many ZXR owners will be able to help you with some info there.

Yeah Gosling bit of an off topic thread hijack but its all good, Pup11 have you bled the clutch? Basically it either works or it doesnt & you can adjust the lever accordingly to suit your big or little hand?
I dont really see the need to adjust it unless it is not working properly? Please Explain & as Gosling mentioned you could start a new thread to do so & hopefully get some more input on the subject from other members

From your profile pic it looks like a nice ZXR you have there, Start an introduction thread with some pics & details
