Replacing Chain on ZX9R F2

Wed Aug 24, 2011 7:27 am

Hey guys

I need to upgrade/replace the chain and sprockets on my bike and was thinking of purchasing this kit in the 525 pitch

Image

Looking at getting it from motosport.com, approx 245 Aus delivered.

Does anyone have thoughts/opinions on the RK chain. I have never had one before.

Also am I correct in thinking the standard ration is 16t for the front and 44t for the rear? I have been reading abit around but nothithg definitive.

Thanks in advance for your help

Keep the standard gearing & yeah RK is reputable enough, these bikes dont put out a heap of HP so the chain could in theory last the life of the bike if it is kept in good nick.
A 520 conversion should be all you need & it would be cheaper ;)

I have tried a few chains and i prefer EK chains mainly MVX or ZVX,i also run 530 on both my track bike and road zx9.
I generally get my chains and sprockets here from my mechanic after some discount its really not worth the buggerising around fitting them my self. You should be able to find someone who will fit this chain MVX with some JT sprockets for around $300.
Last sprocketsi had fitted were basic Afam and wasnt as happy with them compared to the JT ones.
Pretty sure that EK is factory chain for kwakas.
