1991 ZX750 acceleration problems

Postby georgeshtc » Tue Nov 02, 2010 8:10 pm

Hi guys I am new to all this so thanks in advance :D

I got myself a 1991 zx750 and i am experiencing a shuddering/retarding on heavy acceleration (half throttle throught to full throttle)

I have pulled the tank off and noticed no air box and having done some googling i am coming to a conclusion that it is a MUST for this model to have a air box.

Is this true? is there a way around this problem?

any advice to fix this problem would be appreciated even any leads into getting a airbox would be good :D

i can post some pics if required...

thanks george

Yes - you must have an airbox. You also must have all the proper hoses hooked up to the airbox so that the carbs are pressurised correctly. The way around this problem is to fit an airbox with all the OEM hoses.

Try Findapart for checking the wreckers out there for an OEM airbox and all the bits you need.

The Air box fixed it right up! :D

Even the little insert at the rear of the airbox makes a difference (6000rpm/8000rpm hesitates like crazy) and must be kept in..

thank you very much!

who was the moderator again for the donation?

AND A BIG THANK YOU AGAIN BRETT (TACK) YOU ARE A LEGEND! YOU SAVED ME THE BIGGEST HEADAKE AND A LOT OF CASH :kuda:
