97 zx6r rotor removal

Postby MrWasabi » Sat Feb 06, 2010 5:34 pm

Well i got the wreck back home today and no time was spared in pulling it apart to assess the damage.
apart from cosmetics seems like i did quite a number on the stator and its internals. so far the cover, the stator itself and the rotor seem to all be damaged.

I managed to pull everything out, even the rotor bolt, but im having a hard time removing the rotor, is there a special trick to this?
The book says i need a rotor removal tool, but im sure not everyone has one of these laying around so whats the best improvisation?

Ok, so i have been calling around mechanics and spare parts places and apparantly they all say that i shouldnt attempt to remove it by force, as i could damage the crank.
anyway they all said i need a flywheel puller. so i guess this changes my question...

anyone have a flywheel puller i can borrow? :D

Edit: apparantly there are some types which are generic and can fit almost any rotor.

And on the seventh day Richo ended his work which he had made. Decided resting was for soft cox, straddled the REX and headed up the old road.
And it was good
