zx2r idle adjustment

Hi guys, new rider here. bought my first bike, a 1994 zx2r. Just wandering where the idle adjustment knob is? My bike idles at 1,500, but it will slowly drop and stall.

I will usually need to occasionally rev to bike at the light or hold the trottle at around 1,800 - 2,000 to prevent the bike from stalling. I would like to increase the idle speed slightly to around 1,800 to prevent it from stalling at the lights, and feel like a 'tool' whenever i need rev my bike at every red light. I looked at the pdf owners manual, however the quality is really bad and I cant tell where it is?

If anyone can post a picture of where the idle adjuster is, or even a picture of the idle adjuster, so I know what to look for?

Idle adjuster is just above the clutch cover on the right hand side of the bike, looks like a plastic screw on the end of a cable.

Your idle shouldnt need to be over 1500 to avoid stalling.
Sounds like a carby sync and clean is in order.

thanks for the quick reply. Went for a ride before, and i think it was just me being a noob.

Only ridden the bike 2-3 times, all of the time it has been during the night, and only for 5minutes or so. When riding, I noticed the temp gauge needle was still in the blue (engine still very cold?).

However today, i went for a 20min ride in the arvo, and after a few minutes, bike seems to idle fine, and the temp gauge needle was just over the blue (engine warmed up? ).

So im assuming the bike was just still cold when it kept stalling, and it works like a charm when warmed up. However, ill still keep the advice for a carby sync and clean in mind (is this something that is easy to do yourself? or leave for a mechanic to do?)

Its something that can be done yourself if you have some mechanical knowledge and the right tools.
I have never done a sync before, so im not 100% on the procedure. Many here have done it themselves though and would be able to give you some good advice.

Have you stripped the carbs or anything? You might have a sticking float that has been compensated for by winding the idle speed right up so when the float finally drops the bike just dies.

Just a guess.

You need to let these bikes warm up for at least 5 mins or so before riding. I know with mine, if I rode it too soon after starting it in the morning, it would stall as soon as I stopped. Once it warmed up it was fine. It was even worse in winter too. I wouldn't adjust the idle over the 1500 its on now though, just use a bit of choke until its warm and you shouldn't have a prob.
