Is it a zx7r or a zxr750.?

I never set mine using the qty of oil but using a dimension from the top of the fork tub to the oil level.

on the zx7r its 110mm from top of tube on the zxr750 I think its 80mm..
I'm sure someone with a manual can check this.

measure how much you pour out but normally 300-400mm per fork, a liter bottle will do the job

as Dave sez
this is the correct way...you must leave an airgap of the correct size

The only way to do this job properly, is to take the springs out and run some kero through the forks - pump it through, pour out and repeat. You need to remove all traces of the old fork oil - which could be a different weight, old as buggery, etc ....

Then fill with the right amount. Some manuals specify an actual amount, other specify a level from the top of the forks, no springs, and forks fully compressed.

Either way, just * pouring out the old stuff, and filling with some new* is going to ensure that you contaminate the new fluid with heaps of residue of the old stuff, and probably overfill with new oil......neither of which is going to help the front end feel as good as it could.
