Cat converter in Exhaust pipe ZX12R

Postby Dork » Thu Jun 05, 2008 9:14 pm

Guys and gals,
I have got a 2006 ZX12R, just fitted a Yoshi bolt on muffler. Noticed the catalytic converter in the end of the header pipe where the muffler bolts on.
Anyone removed the converter, if so what is the end result. Any difference to performance etc. and does the bike need to be remapped or a power commander fitted.
Your thoughts,
Thanks
:)

Hi Mate,

I took mine out with a hacksaw about a year or so ago when I fitted a yoshi bolt on. it will just pop out when you break the tack welds around the outside. It made no difference to the bike, in fact it opened the bike up a tad, or at least the pipe did. Feel free to pull it out.

Cheers Hoff

Thanks, For the info, doesn't appear to be to hard to remove. I''ll give it a test on the weekend away from the Gestapo.
