ZX6R F2 Airfilter

Decided to have a look at the air filter and plugs after the dyno day today. You know, nothing like spur of the moment maintanence, even if it is after the event.

Anyway, When I pulled the air filter out and looked at it I can't Identify what brand it is, and whether or not it should be oiled like a unifilter or K&N type. I did some looking this arvo on the net to find pics but couldn't find anything that matched, so now I'm asking the guru's.

The top is foam like a unifilter

The underside looks like very short, fine bristles, like a brush for velour

I would presume that the foam shouldn't be oiled, and that it can be washed like a normal performance filter, I just don't know what brand it is.

That's bog std factory unit.

Junk it NOW, get a BMC, a Factory Pro jet kit and a decent exhaust can. That will loosen up a few ponies :D

You can pull it out and wash it down. Back when I had an F1 as a roadie I pulled the foam and replaced it with some UNI Filter foam. Then I just washed it down in some Kero and re-oiled with a good filter oil.

When I changed to the F2 as a racer I did the BMC, jet, exhaust. Was much better!
