Bike not turning over after spill

Fri Nov 27, 2015 6:35 pm

I had a spill on my bike (1992 ZXR750 L1) a few weeks back resulting in a broken collar bone and pretty shabby fairings amongst other damage.

I took the opportunity to streetfighter the front end as I was already planning to do this on my spare ZXR anyway.

I've installed custom triples and drag bars and removed the lights and clocks.

Now when I try to start the bike the starter won't turn over and I just get a series of rapid clicks from under the seat which I think is the starter solenoid,

The bike was started and ridden into my garage the day after the crash so I know it runs.

I've charged the battery but still nothing.

Bike is in neutral with the side stand down
And it's always started like this before.

Any help or direction would be appreciated as I need to get it running by Sunday so it can be moved to my new house.

The battery could be rooted mate. If you have a spare good one try and swap it.

Agreed. My zxr was doing that. You could charge the guts out of the battery and still do that.
I jump started it off the yoot, and away it went.

Will check the battery and it's the fuel pump clicking, not the starter solenoid.

Turned out to be the clutch switch plug hadn't quite seated home.
But of a twiddle and she's fired and ran nice!

Probably best if you don't crash it eh! ;)

Indeed!

But managed to get a very quick run around the bloom on it earlier and from that little distance I can already say that the drag bars and risers make the bike so much more comfortable and it feels like it turns way quicker too!

Will post more pictures of the fightered ZXR once it's finished but have to say it'll be a while.
