whats the best bolton after market pipe for the zx9r ( e1) and do you have to do any more mods after fitting thinking about a stain tune ???

Staintune good, But realy any bolt on will do the same. If you still run the standard muffler then you will be aware of the poor carburation between 3200 and 4000 rpm. All aftermarket pipes cure this problem and will add 3-5 hp. I originaly ran a Remus ally can but switched to a Muzzy. Remus ran fine on standard carburation but the muzzy required a lift of the needles by placing a .5mm washer underneath them.

I have a tingate(roo racing) slip on besides being australian there pricing is pretty good

Or try this - Ful Muzzy system for about $680 AU delivered to your door. It does say its for an 01 but I am not aware of any differences between the two in the exhaust department. Ask around.

i email them and boltons in adelaide both said they dont make them anymore but the viper looks cool , may a good second hand one might show up ill keep lookn

I have a full titanium race system for an E-onwards ZX9 that's only taking up room in the garage. It's made by a never-heard-of-them Japanese company called K-Factory (go to http://www.k-factory.com to practice your Japanese), but it's a work of art and it weighs about as much as the bolt that attaches the stock muffler to the pillion footpeg. It's got one tiny ding in the muffler sleeve near the back, otherwise it's perfect.

It's yours for the price of a stainless steel muffler from a bikeshop.

The reason that flat spot is there is to pass ADR ride by noise tests. What they do is lean them right off and put a dip in the ignitor at the point they are measured at (approx 3000-4000rpm). Thus, with a jet or needle and ignitor fiddle, the standard system will put out a tad more bottom end. A slip on will usually rob most bikes of bottom and mid with a sometimes marginal improvement in top, although most who do the mod swear black and blue it's an improvement! From what i've seen mostly it's all crap. Which is why unless I am racing I don't bother with a pipe. A full system like the one which I.K. is selling can often reap bigish gains in mid and top, but usually at the expense of everything below 4000. If you are on a track this is not used so doesn't matter, but, on the road it's handy to have a clean carbing motor and less important to have 8-14hp extra at the top. In a nutshell, a slip on is for noise and looks. If it's power you want get a full system and be done with it.

With a Muzzy, the supplied needles always work well if set up right and usually the jetting instructions are pretty close. Akropovic are perhaps the leading pipe manufacturer ATM and seem especially handy on Kwakka motors. The pipes are a work of art and are well researched and tested. They also apear to hold up OK from the ones I have seen biffed at the track with the skins being pretty durable. As far as muzzy goes, I still have my oroginal pipe, which was Bayliss's original pipe on my racer, and he and I have both crashed it on that side several times and it has not crushed or holed.

Semantics maybe. Noise is not tested at these RPM for ADR's. ADR noise testing is conducted stationary, as stated on the sticker on the frame, at 5500 rpm. It is the emision test that is conducted at this range, measuring the CO ( carbon monoxide ) level.

I dont dispute that with mods to carburation and igniton timing improvements can be made. But I will be one of those swearing black and blue for aftermarket pipes - They are an easy fix on standard settings. With further room for improvement.
When I first got my 9 that hole in the carburation drove me up the wall because it is within the "ordinary" operating range. IE: 60 - 100kmh in 4th to 6th gear. I cant argue your point that they rob low down power but they certainly do smooth out the carburation and give a better throttle response.

thanks for the offer on the full system i.k i have just started lookn around and realy all i am aim'n for is to get rid of that flat spot which is a pain in the ahole with the 50km speed limit around town. how loud would that full system be cause i got to be carefull with the local force liv'n on the same steet as myself.as for the slip on i have em a coulpe of places but thay havent returned anything ??? look'n at a few pics and the arka titium looks ok what would be a average price for arka?

Less obnoxious than a Yoshi or similar. Like Akrapovic, Sebring, Laser, Arrow and other pipes from continental Europe, where cahns are polite to each other, Japanese pipes tend to be on the quiet side... until you really start winding it out.

New in Australia, just north of a grand for titanium. With this sort of stuff, buy used, mate, whatever you do.
