ZXR750J Clutch Issue

It feels like I'm not getting enough throw with the clutch on the 750. Feels like it's not disengaging all the way. Have put fresh fluid in it and bled it, and it had a slave cylinder kit not so long ago, how common is master cylinder problems on these bikes and how easy is it to put seals in one? Otherwise is there a common changeover to a later model/better master cylinder?

Have you adjusted your leaver right out?? (longest travel to bar)

What gives you the feeling that its not disengaging fully? does it want to walk forward when in gear and standing still
with the clutch full in?

Are you sure you bleed it properly?

What was the reason for bleeding the clutch in the first place??

Yeah it wants to walk off the mark while standing still, and it's not as easy as I may remember some time ago to select neutral while stopped. I am sure I bled it properly.

I put new fluid through it to see if that would help the feel and to get more slave cylinder travel.

It's booked into the shop on Monday for that and a few other things they will hopefully be able to fix it for me.

I'm having the same problem on my L model; have you solved the problem yet?

I've bought new clutch fluid as the bike was stood for over a year before I bought it but I haven't changed it yet! May wait a while if I have to rebuild the slave and master!

Would like to sort it before I get to putting a new clutch in it but if that's what it needs then so be it!

The shop could only suggest it might be warped metal clutch plates but I haven't done anything about that yet.

Does it get worse as the engine gets hot? Even if not, after you have taken it for a bit of a spin crack the nipple at the engine leaving the lever alone, if it spits out more than a dribble you have a pressure lock in the system, this is usually traced back to either or both the master cylinder reservoir or in the master cylinder itself. In the master cylinder there is a tiny hole just in front of the plunger, as you depress the lever that hole gets covered by the plunger, when you release the lever the hole is open again and releases pressure build up. If that hole is blocked you can get many different symptoms, clutch slippage, clunky gears, lever feels weak etc. Anyway hope this helps...... chris
