Regarding the seat height ...

I was under the impression that the er6 was competition for the SV, which has a seat height of 805mm according to Suzuki. The ER6 seat height is 785mm (790 for the -f), which is lower even if not significantly.

I had that impression as well but I soon found out that looking at the specs alone is not enough.
I'll be in trouble on a slope on the SV650(stationery), but I can sit on the ER6 comfortably. I'm not very heavy as u can see.
I was due to test ride one but came off the ZZR few days before that, so....no ER6 for me(yet).

I had an RF900, and damn it had some balls!

Shame about the ordinary brakes and poor ground clearance.

If i wanted a cheap all purpose sports/touring/commuting hack I'd have another one.

My 04 ZX6R would still eat it tho.

?? It definitely was not the naked model.

Postby dreamgirl62 » Tue Apr 11, 2006 2:20 pm

hey gosling, are you sure it wasnt the ER6F with a 2 tone fairing, its fully faired but creates illusion..... by the way great report!
miss zzr I agree that the big thing about the ER6n was the seat height, I didnt think it was as low as they had advertised.. I certainly dont have ducks disease, but wanted this bike to be lower than my 2006 vfr 800, this was about 1" to high for me and shot my confidence to peices, the seat on the ER6N also has minimal area to sculpt, maybe this could also add to a lower height.....
Im 5'8 and my feet sit firmly on the ground and now that my ass isnt so fat even moreso LOL.......

Im also 44 years old and love the comfort and seating position.... although I always have loved stretching out the old back out on the sports!!!

 It was this one - a nice black version........I think the lower fairing just fitted so well, I did not even notice it.......

anyway thanks for the feedback, glad you liked the report, when I take the 12 in for its 18k service, I am going to try and wrangle the new ZX10R for a morning !!

THAT will be a good ride report !! ( Team Crim take note........and take a sickie........  )

Going back to Gos's initial post, where he said:

* Seat was a bit hard, but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a lambswool cover;

I am what would be classed as a very old fart and thus have a much modified prostate. I gave it an easier time by peeling back the seat cover on my ER6-n and cutting a slot about 40mm wide by 12mm deep in the critical area of the foam thus making the seat much more comfortable.

So I am back to 2 wheels after a break of 50 years and having a great time :D

Cheers, v.

It was weird, because it only happened at 2 sets of lights, and 1 stop sign..........and I went through about 8 sets of lights, a couple of stops signs plus a couple of complete stops at give-way signs......just strange...

Heh had a look at any new FJR's lately ?? :P

probably find all it would take is to raise the idle by 100 rpm and that would fix the problem... just sounds like the revs alittle to low

i riden R/R kawasaki's loaner ER6F @ the time it had a aftermarket pipe & braided brake lines , it went well & handled / braked o.k. i'd recommend one as a commuter or weekend around town bike , with the after market pipe it sounded great & had a strong mid range punch . overtaking was a breeze & did i mention it looks great & is very comfy to ride .. ;)
