Damn...I can see owning a ZRX is going to be costly for this pensioner... :kuda:

Strangely enough I am going the opposite way with my GEN2 Busa & removing the OEM slipper clutch to improve launch capabilities on the dragstrip.

Never felt there was aproblem with the ZRX clutch, if I had big compression maybe, but with 10:1 compression, yes it would lock & slide into corners occassionally if I got ham fisted or the road was wet, there you go horses for courses...

BTW: Still got my ZRX :D , but she will be deregistered in May :(

Why what?

Why keep ZRX? Because its a great bike & worth more to me than I could sell it for.

Why deregister ZRX? Because the downturn has meant taking a substantial wage cut to stay employed as similar business' fold all around us.

Why remove slipper clutch? Because they create an unerving bang halfway though your launch & shake the whole bike. Lack of feel creates lack of consitency & that loses dragraces no matter how fast you go. I can't get the Busa down to within 0.1 sec of the 60ft launch time I can acheive consistently from the ZRX.

I was asking about deregoing the ZRX. :( You could go single seat- half price rego.

I have looked into it bonester but it is costly to do the change over, but I fully agree it would be the best outcome.

Having it sit & watch it deteriorate due to lack of use is not a great thought, & we all know they DO deteriorate when not used consistently.

Anyway, back to slipper clutchs.

All you have to do is remove rear pegs, cut seat foam to max 500mm and get compliance which should cost around $60

I guess it all depends on how you are using them, whether you prefer the slipper clutch or not. For me it was an easy decision to make. My clutch was slipping so bad that it needed new springs and fibres and I was used to having the slipper on my track bike and had backed the ZRX into a few corners on the road when I would forget and get a bit lazy with the clutch lever. When I did the upgrade, I added heavier springs to cope with the extra grunt and the 'occasional' clutch up wheelie and it hasn't skipped a beat since and has lasted well over twice the k's that the standard clutch did. Not being a drag or race bike means I don't need to launch the bike so there are no down sides for me doing this mod, but it's good to hear the different advantages/disadvantages if you use your bike in different ways. I learnt something new from your post, so thanks for sharing. :kuda:

Sorry to hear you have to de-register too, but I agree with you 100% that it's better to keep it tucked away for a later date, than to regret selling it down the track.
