I have just fitted a set of tyres to a friends new [3000K old] Z1000, I took it for a ride, Man Im temped to get one, I know the ZRX has my heart, but the Z1000 has my head. My ZRX would easy out power the Z from 1000 to 5000rpm, it has much more lowdown grunt, but once on the move the Z1000 would hold its own with ease. I tuned the suspension while I was at it, & without doubt it would out handle the ZRX when pushed. But we all know that.
The passangers & riders seat on the Z1000 is really bad. & ive just orded a Sargent seat from the US for the ZRX
If I was to update I would go for the fully faired Z1000 ninja, as I want to travel a bit now im not racing..

So what to do what to do ???
Stay with my heart & keep the ZRX ?
it only has 41000Ks on it, soon a new Sargent seat. It has a Remus muffler, 4deg advancer, jet kit,, tidy tail, etc etc
OR go with my head & buy a new Z1000 & spend some money doing the exhaust, powercomander, & seat mods???

Correct answer. I think that is known as "the Gosling Pricipal" you aquire more bikes, just dont get rid of any.

I am now on my second new-gen Z1000 (first one stolen) and today I picked it up from RB Racing after having the a full Akra fitted with PC5, dyno tune, etc... and all I can say is "great fun".

I still miss my old ZRX so i agree with others. Keep both

- that's the way to do it ! (it helps a lot here in Anarchy Rd where you don't need blue slips for up to 12 months once rego expires, can have 3,6 or 12 months rego.....makes having several bikes with rego pretty easy...)

Hard choice to make Steve, the Rex is a great bike - but so is the Zeddie......I would probably run with a new Zed.

I took the new Z for a spin a month back. I loved it. Awesome power and handles very very well.

I love my ZRX, I dont think ill ever get rid of it, but I would sure love a Z1000 next to the ZRX.

Its a dilemer, Damn you Kawasaki!!!!
I love the ZRX & its like a family member, with heaps of friends that you like, or your old dog, its your mate, friendly, & depenable, but the Z is a good handler & thats what lets the ZRX down. Power wise I dont think there would be anything in it. The Z is new age tech, the ZRX is old school charm. But I'll keep churning it over & over. I know if I ride another Z for any distance I'll be off to the Kawasaki dealer to get one, so I best stay away from them I think.
Now as for the Sargents seat, I payed $390 new delivered to my door. So that might keep me on the ZRX for a bit longer.I was gonna get this one reshaped but it was gonna cost near the same amount.

not that i'd sell my ZRX but with the mileage getting up there i went too the manufacturers show last year fully intending to buy an '11 Ninja 1000....

too bad it was so fuckin' ugly!!!

In future, if anyone wants a new seat for their Rex, I have a standard one in my shed. I will send it to who ever wants to borrow it, while they send theirs over to the states to have Mr. Wog do his number on it. Best seat money can buy on a Rex. Look stock too!!!!

S-man, as for a Z. As Phil says, if you can have two sure, but don't sell the Rex mate!!! You WILL regret it!!!!!!!

Yeah thats what the problem is, I like the f***ing thing so much. But would like a new Z1000..

Just like my XJR... I think you'll regret selling the ZRX to be honest.

A friend of mine has a really nice 96 XJR1200 he wants to sell, he bought , wait for it a > Harley. :>(
