FORK THAT!!!

Wed Jun 22, 2011 11:46 pm

was out & about Sunday & a mate wanted a hand with his bike...

beautiful day...warm but not humid...cool air flowing through the vents in my gear...

so 20 miles home for underwear, socks & a toothbrush...60 miles of slab then 60 miles of back roads

got a late start so popped off the forks took 'em apart & let 'em drain overnight

Image

cleaned & reassembled the next morning, tweaked the alignment & set up the suspension on both ends of the bike

we'd prepped this bike for hibernation 5 years ago so some gas & a battery & she fired right up

here's a happy camper...LOL

then i threw the Hideous Barge on the lift & dropped the oil & back wheel & fitted the new Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interact (C version)...

a real bitch getting it on the rim & a bit nerve wracking putting almost 80 lbs of air in to bead it...

thought she was gonna blow!!!...LOL

had a few beers after then the next morning all back roads with twisties getting home...

the new tyre feels ok so far...can't wait to get that M5 on the front now...LOL

Jesus mate....how many of those things are breeding in your basement???  Good to see you with some nice weather again. I feel for you when you are snowed in and not able to ride. At least here in Melbourne, you can still ride most days in winter unless you go into the mountains. Down on the plains, a cold winter day is 6 degrees C. So even if it's pissing with rain and 6c, we can ride. But you, you'd have to have snow chains for a winter ride most times hey? ;)

Mind you, I have done a ride into the snowfields...several times...during mid winter. It used to be an annual July event, to ride to the top carpark at Lake Mountain. The toll operators were puzzled as to if we required chains and if we were allowed, so we just used to skirt around it and keep going believing in the forgiveness before permission motto. Several times we had to help push bikes back out of the carpark afte we had gone tabogganing. Back then, winter gear was nylon dryrider jacket and pants and rubber over boots. So that also doubled as ski wear once at the top!

The trip up was always challenging, the trip down was often just frightening!!!!!

He looks ecstatic mate, coming in his pants by the look of him

But it must be a good feeling to get a bike out of storage and have it fire straight up 8)
