Hi guys i'm looking at getting some new tyre's. Any suggestions on a good set as the dunplops are not exactly confidence inspiring. Especially now that i have changed the fork innards and shocker, I would like a set that could be half decent on the odd track day as now im getting my confidence back i fancy a bit of the odd fang :D :D :D

Are u on the original 221's? The 220 rear is much better.

Bridgestone BT014's. Better price than the M3's and otherwise as good in every respect.

That's *very* cheap for M3' - is that price available to the average punter or is that a special price for you only? Most places up here seem to want upwards of $500/set.

As a Rule tyres tend to be reasonably competitive here in Vic. I have often found that when in need of a tyre in NSW it usually costs a little more.

AS for tyres for the ER6. M3's wear well but the edge grip is a little sketchy in my opinion, BT014's grip like poo to a blanket but don't last long compared to other models I have abused. I am really liking these Continental Sport Attacks, and life at this point may exceed 5000klms for a rear on my 9, which is just a bit less than an M3. But the grip is pretty damn good with the Conti's!

M3's - but I get them done here for about $460 a set fitted, which is a good price.......

the only way to work it which is the *best* tytre for you and your riding style, is to try a number of different combos. The worst tyre made already exceeds the riding ability of 95% of most punters, so its not like you will be saddled with shitty tyres for ever......just work your way through the range available, and make a decision that suits you and your wallet.

I started doing this over 2 years ago on a new ZX12R, and still haven't tried all the different styles available........just stay away from French Dunlops !!

Its a negotiated price not to hard to acheive if your going through 4-5 sets a year 8)

Cheers all :D i knew asking about tyres would be opening a can of worms lol. However I cant seem to find a bloody set of M3's in Brissy  so going to try the Bridgies. i i figure either of those or even the pilot power 2 will shit on the dunlops on the bike right now.
Had a bit of a moment up Mt Nebo when the rear let go with bugger all warning. Almost highsided myself off the rd into a tree
Needless to say my pace was somewhat slowed as its hard to ride with a big poo in your britches.

Anyway thanks for all the help i appreciate it :D :D

Oh one last question... recon staying away from changing profiles is a good idea?

Not long ago I fitted the nine with a set of Pilot sports and I found them to be fantastic. Alot of people said I was crazy as they were old technology and there were definitely better to be had. I dont know the full story but there has been a re-release of this tyre and I was able to secure a pair fitted for $230 ;) . Would be mad not to give them a another go. They were OEM for the 9 and I had many people say that I would be better off getting Diablo Corsas or M3's ( I was replacing the M3's with the Pilot Sports). I call Bullshit on all the nay-sayers. Although I really only got 500 km's out of the Pilot Sports ( due to demolishing the bike before being able to demolish the tyres  ) I found them to be terrific and provided heaps of grip and stability.
Tyres are a can of worms to be sure but as he :arrowu: said you have to search pretty hard to find a bad tyre. It's all about what suits you. Besides a new rear tyre is only a burnout away :D

This is very true especially of me :D :D I have had my bum back on a bike for only 8 or 9 months now, though i rode for over ten years in the Uk.
I would prefer that if i bin it its me being a twat and not crap tyres :D :D :D :D

Its only a matter of time now ....

Incidentally this is quite nifty even if the gixxer was not trying hard.
