ZRX spools and sliders

Postby poorbastard » Sat Jan 10, 2009 6:33 pm

Just looking to get some insight as to what you guys use for spools/pick up knobs on your ZRX's? I couldn't find any specific ZRX ones so got some for a ZX9R that are also 10mm, unfortunately one side doesn't fit properly (they are Harris ones). Has anyone managed to find any ZRX ones or a specific brand which mounts to the ZRX swingarm without fuss?

While I'm at it, I think it's probably a good idea to get some frame sliders just in case I have a stationary spill. 240kg of bike takes a bit of effort to move around and would like some extra security. I've had a look at the 0ggy knobs and don't like the fact that they mount to the frame with a bracket. I haven't managed to find a picture of the R&G ones but at $200...they better be made of gold. Would like to find out what the rest of the Rex owners are using on theirs.

I used a '0' and 'ggy' as it's the only way I could figure out how to say it. Worst thing is I was referring to that specific product so you can't even say it when you want to.

My pickup knobs are sharp I think - dont have the packaging anymore. They seem to fit OK though but are only very small (diameter wise), I think thats why they fit well in that area.

I dont have any sort of generic crah protection :kuda: thats what ones body is for :kuda: :kuda:

I found a neat engine crash protection bar, which is actually a genuine Kwaka part along with pannier frames which hold Givi style panniers, very slick on th eKawasaki dealer's site in East Anglia in England. Yep, you guessed it, Kawa Aust don't import them :(

This guy from melbourne has a good site, he has bought his missus a ZRX as well! He gives a lot of detail about fitting crash KNobs, etc.

Man up! A true ZRX rider can deadlift 240kg with one hand

Seriously though, I'd also like to find some decent crash protection as I plan on turning my ZRX into a trackie (or maybe racer) later this year.

All I've found so far* are SATO frame sliders. Mind you, can't get them here and have to order from US - kinda boned with the current exchange rate.

*so far as in fitting the right criteria: straight mount to engine bolt with no brackets or crap.

I had case savers on my Rex but decking them twice through turn 2 at Eastern Creek they now make good paper weights. :D
This is the after shot after decking twice   :kuda:

I'm ging to order a set from a ZRXOA member for a mate here (fro champindustries.com). They get a good rap on the site. Let me know if you're interested and we'll see whether the postage is cheaper. I believe that they mount directly to the engine bolts. I bought a different set that mount to the engine bolts off the old "motorcycles-accessories" website about 6 yrs ago but they don't seem to be around anymore.
