Just got my Rex

Postby poorbastard » Fri Jan 09, 2009 12:16 am

I've been a member on KSRC for a bit however, I haven't had a green machine so have never really had much to post about.

That all changes now. Have had her for a bit but I've just returned from holiday so thought I'd share some pics. Nice to see bonester here with one too, seeing as he gave me my first ever riding lesson. I've gone through a DT230, an R6 and have finally arrived at this beauty:

Goran, I have to admit I was surprised when I first read that you bought a Rex! They do look the bees knees though, and go like hell!

Enjoy!
Cheers,
Anne

I actually have the stock pipe and bikini fairing. I just really like the retro round headlight setup, not to mention the weight saved is quite a bit

I've definitely gotten some surprised looks and a bit of questions when the helmet comes off. I don't think many are expecting a 21 year old hooligan to be on a Rex!

Have read up on what you guys are doing to your Rex's and have sorted the suspension out for myself so far. The rear is on a 45T and not too sure on the front. I will see how it goes as I originally wanted to run 17/44. Off the line it's fairly ballistic though. I haven't run out of ground clearance yet so have not flipped the eccentrics, but again will see how it pans out as I keep riding. I think the ground clearance at the moment is fine although as I roll the adjuster back, it may get a bit low.

THAT was the difference!!!! I knew something wasn't stock, but i couldn't quite pick it!!

Where'd you get the lamp from anyway & how much'd it cost you? Also while i'm throwing you 40 questions, what's the external diameter on the thing (im looking at getting a new lamp setup for my 250 (get rid of the shit 35/35 setup and go to 55/60!) and something like that'd fit, that'd be fantastic.

I didn't actually do anything to the front unfortunately. The previous owner (who i don't know as I bought it off a dealer) converted the entire front. The lamp itself is 19cm at the widest part and 16.5cm lens.

The brackets look like something he jimmied up himself but they are very tidy.

Neat, will get the tape measure out when i get home. Those headlight mounts are quite common so he could have gotten some after market ones (or ones from near any other bike) and they would have fitted easily enough. Or as you said, he could have lashed it together himself!
