Are the 07 and 08 Z750 the same spec bike?

Postby GlennB » Fri Dec 21, 2007 3:23 pm

Im thinking I might change over to the nakeds from my 99 zx6. I think these model bike are just god damn sexy  and you can pick up a new/demo 07 for 10.8K ride away or buy a new 08 for 10.5+ORC. They seem to have plenty of power and more torque than my bike.
Are there any changes between the 07 and 08?
Cheers

As far as I am aware, the new model hasn't changed apart from colours. Happy for someone to correct me but! :D

I'm pretty sure they're the same, and they're fantastic little bikes. I can't think of any other new bike (apart from maybe a GTR14) that I'd buy today as a road bike, not even the mighty '08 zx10r or the z1000. When they're cheap enough I'm going to get an orange '04 z750 to ride on the road and put my 9 away in mothballs ;)

They are the same bike exactly with just different colours. They will bring in the Black, Orange and Midnight Blue but i don't know about the Silver. Looks like they dumped the green (why.....it's their colour)

From the looks of things i may have lied, they have a pattern on the side under the fuel tank and a black engine protector (not silver like now)

Dave, fwiw when I was looking around at bikes to ride I took an 04 z750 for a ride, if ya like your testicles and tonsils meeting somewhere in the middle, then yeah, good bike. Other than that I found the one I rode had to be literally booted into gear.

Had your twin brother been doing the maintenance on the zed Mick? Seriously, no modern bike that's been half maintained needs to be booted into gear.

Should we start calling you deepthroat :) I guess you're saying that the ride is pretty harsh? Again, I'd have to wonder what's been done to this machine 'cause in stock form they're undersprung a little and very compliant over rough surfaces.

I see what you mean, there is alot more black around the engine area on the 08 model. I think both styles look great but would lean to the 07 style, I like the crome look about it.

Telling it like it is dave, happy for you to take a ride and draw your own conclusions, I can only go by the one that I rode...

Don't think the ride was harsh so much as a shithouse seating postion... like way worse than the zzr was and that has a tendency to testicle crushing at times too but this was WAY worse!

Sorry Mick, I'm not criticising your assessment of the bike, more flinging monkey poo at the current owner/mechanic by way of comparing his or her maintenance skills to those that your twin brother showed in maintaining (perhaps only the bodywork) on your old ZZR.

That's interesting, as they're both relatively upright machines (the zed more so than the zzr) and I wouldn't have expected nut crushing from either. What do you think causes it? Is it seat angle, tank shape/angle, seating position, reach to the 'bars, lack of beer gut to protect the nuts  or something else completely?

Well i've got the beer gut so that procludes that idea, not seen many to compare but think I have a largish ball bag (and in the tradition of pics and it didn't happen, rest assured pics AREN'T happening) so the tendency to sit on it is there if I don't adjust the tackle prior to taking a seat... as a matter of fact I have a swollen right nut that I attribute to exactly that, not adjusting the tackle.. had it ultrasounded and nothing to worry about there.

I guess that's about the only thing I can really think of, yes they are both very upright seating positions but this was definately not compfortable (for me) might be okm for Neka with his baby sized ball bag (at least that's what Stace said Neka) but not for me :D

In relation to the seat I found my 03 Z had the same "nut crushing" aspects as the newer Z750/1000 on the stock seat. The bike came with a Corbin and it has a larger hump at the tank and and this eliminates the crushing of ones family jewels.I tried the stock seat for one day then put the Corbin back on - it's chalk and cheese.

Not sure if they do a Corbin for the newer bikes but if they do it's worth the money if you get one of the Zeds.

This nut crushing problem, is it nut crushing compared to a sports tourer or a super sports bike? Is there anyone in melbourne who can repad the seat to make it more cumfy? If so, what kind of cost could someone be looking at to get it done?
Cheers
