Z1000 fuel range

Thu Sep 04, 2008 7:46 pm

Hi all,
Just wanted to ask what kind of mileage you all get out of a tank on the Z1000. I ve only been filling it up at half full, but the other day I let it go al ittle longer and the last incriment started flashing and FUEL lit up, so i went and filled it but only put 9 litres in! still a fair bit left. there is a fuel light too isnt there, how much is left when that comes on?
thanks

Not 100% sure but on the 07 Z750 the fuel light flashes with about 5litres left in the tank and i think they are the same sized tank!!

Well I go about 220 or so k before I fill up and usually have 1-2 litres left to go in the tank. It starts flashing from about 180 or so km but I ignore it as I know I can go the extra 40km or so before it gets time to fill up.

I get about 260 per tank. The last 30km the last block on the fuel meter/gauge is flashing. All good!

Is that 260 just cruising or are you riding it hard? The most I have ever got was almost 250 and it was surging and spluttering on the way to the servo. (I was very lucky to make it  )

Fuel eco would apply to bike as it would car! Stop, start driving would chew the juice up! But if u sit on a constant speed with minimal throttle and keep slightly under the speed limit u will get heaps of KM's.

I got on the zx10 from Hobart to Launceston with a few "high speed" squirts, on about 12L and thats a bit under 200km's so still had 4 left!
