Possible Purchase of ZRX1200R

Well it's good to be back talking bikes, Sold my ZX10R last year and my Z1000 before that. Needed the cash to bolster the aging apprentices wages, "Me". Time has come to look at other bikes and as I'm not getting any younger and am looking at doing some descent klms the big bore nakeds have caught my interest. I have looked at the CB1300, XJR1300 but am real keen on the ZRX1200R. Please feel free to offer all opinions on these and especially any thoughts regarding handling of the big Kwaka.

I have always liked the XJR and was thinking of buying one a few years ago after seeing the SP (now standard). Recently I had the same dilemma as you but ended up with the ZRX as the look has grown on me over the years and I was given several reviews on XJR v ZRX v CB v GSX. The ZRX won most of the reviews that I saw due to handling and power. The CB won a couple as it is a bit more modern?

The GSX was the highest selling big bore naked last year by heaps .

I'm happy with my choice . Very happy.

Are there any differences between the 07 and 08 models? And Wadda how'd you go stepping off the ZX12 onto the ZRX?

The only difference is the colour scheme including the stripes, swing arm, rear peg bracket etc.

I love the 12 but I wanted a big bore naked bike as they have grown on me over the years. I had a few goes on Phil's and wasn't sure at first due the the upright sitting postion and I found the steering weird as there is mush less weight over the front.

I eventually went for a ride with Phil and we swapped bikes 3 or 4 times. All I can say is the 12 is a weapon with so much HP but each time I swapped I found the ZRX was a bit easier to ride with its quick steering and upright sitting positions.

They go, they stop, they steer and they do all that in the lap of luxurious comfort!!!!!! Pretty cool bike which actually can do almost everything!!! I've just done 4000+ klms on mine and I could literally jump on it and do it all again RFN!!! I do however have the semi faired S, not the R. But the R is the same with just a bit less wind protection.

I really like mine, tours easily at 120-130 kph and a twist of the throttle results in a roar and a huge rush up to whatever speed you want even with a full load on board. Instantaneous overtaking. Mine has an Akropovich system and a lower countershaft sprocket. It is easy to ride around town and to punt along in traffic, but has insane power available on tap and will loft the front wheel in first and second under accelleration.

About the only thing I am not real keen on is the seat. It is big and wide and looks ok, but it tends to make me slide forward, squashing my goolies and bending my knees (and my old knees don't much like bending more than necessary). I will have to try it wothout the lambswool cover. If that doesn't work maybe an Airhawk.

I would also like a set of risers on the handlebars, but I am one big sumbeetch.

Overall: Farkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkking awesome and I'm glad i didn't have this bike when I was a young' un, because I would'nt be here as an old fart.

The ZRX is probably the smallest (it feels like it is) of the big muscle naked bikes. On the road I cant feel its weight and can ride it to its maximum chicken strips! It feels very agile and responsive and cant easily cruise at 160 kph 5500 rpm but I don't know this because i've never ridden at these speeds (yeah right).
I think this is the last year of production hence the gold trimming! I think its already not available in the US. Better hurry or you'll miss out! I also like the way these things hold their value!! ps. a screen extension of 125 mm is advisable for comfortable touring!the seat you can get used to it, like the old days!
