when i bought my bike from SCM (kogarah) they invited me to a maintenance course.

When i went to this course a mechanic was pointing out a heap of cheap mods to a hayabusa to increase power/performance. Most of these mods were to do with the polution gear etc that when removed or changed would assist in horsepower gains.

Im figuring that these type of mods would work to an extent on any bike

Does anyone have experience with changes to the pollution gear or similar on the Z750 or in kawasaki's in general?

Hey Stompy, great bike or what! I got a black one (well it was black 8 weeks ago when it went to get fixed) and I love it. I have heard that a decent exhaust and power commander can be worth around 7 or 8 hp but apart from that not much seems to have been done on them. As for mods to avoid, think twice about putting oggys on them. If you crash they dont stick out far enough to protect anything and where they mount, they can smack the cylinder head so more chance of extra damage. If you get extra long oggys maybe they would work but I dont think Ill get them put back on. Oh and dont crash it.... fuel tank $1800... forks $2000 and tghe list goes on! Enjoy mate, when i get my baby back you up for a ride?

And to think... some people pay money to go along and hear this sort of wisdom being dispensed...

My ZX9 was a half-finished trackbike when I got it, and the exhaust port breathers had been short-circuited together. I plumbed the vacuum chamber and its associated hoses back in as a test when I was chasing excessive fuel consumption gremlins, and noticed exactly three-fifths of sfa of a change in either power or throttle response, so I left it in there.

Unless you're chasing tenths of a single horsepower, removing the exhaust air-injection system is pointless unless you're looking to double or triple the amount on unburnt fuel your bike shoots out the back.

If the Z750 has a paper filter, swap it over for a foam one, fit a full race exhaust system (the Z1000 has the same exhaust port diameters as 2000-and-onwards ZX9's, so ZX9 race exhausts a direct fit... this is likely to have implications for the Z750) for the weight saving as much as the power gain and if you still have to fiddle after that, do something about the twin-piston sliding-pin front calipers.

Thank I-K thats the kind of news i was hoping for - that it makes bugger all difference so dont bother

Ive got braided brake lines coming - so after they go on i think i will go for the full exhaust and filter upgrade next.

yeah i am really starting to love this bike again.

I adjusted the rear suspension recently and it has made a world of difference. i went through a stage where the bike was annoying me and i wanted to upgrade it but just this weekend i fell in love with it again.
its just so awesome for cruising around on.

Ive had it out at EC twice now and its so damn easy on it.
its not the fastest in the straight and all the bigger bikes get me there but i soon get them back in the corners.

When you get your bike back im keen for a ride.

ZX( heahers apparently do fit the Z1000, but the ZX9s have a braket below the footpeg which the thou' doesn't. assuming the 750 doesnt either.

remove the kwaka KLEEN system wont make it go better, but will stop the popping and backfiring when you put a new exhaust on.
