Z1-R Aftermarket Exhausts

Tue Mar 24, 2015 12:38 pm

Anyone fitted a Delkevic SS 4:1 to their Zed? I'm looking at getting one to replace the bodged original on my Z1-R. The UK website http://www.delkevic.co.uk doesn't list one for the Z1-R but maybe can use the Z1000A1/A2 one with some mods to the rear bracket....? Looks pretty nice - and quite cheap ($399.95 incl freight!) . The Oz agent is chasing some answers for me regarding retaining the centrestand and if the Z1000A1/A2 system can be adapted to the Z1-R. (NB these systems allow access to change oil/filter iwithout having to remove the exhaust.) Cupla pics forya attached.

the Z1000A1/A2 system should go really close to bolting straight up to the Z1R frame - even though the footpeg-hanger design changed between the 2 models) - from a 1-piece pressed-steel fitting to a tube-style mount betweem the models - the position of the pillion pegs (and the exhaust mount) - is just about identical.

That system looks pretty good - will be interested to see how it goes once its fitted :D

Slimey

Did you end up buying the above system?

And while I've got your attention....would you be interested in restoring my Z1R clocks? :kuda:

If you go on Facebook, Phil O'brian is still making the odd system in his spare time. Im sure he still has all the superbike & road plans with him. Cant hurt to ask..

Fitted the motogpwerks to my z1000 a few months ago when I discovered the Premier was shagged.

Sounds sweet but I don't think there will be any stealth runs. Also need to do some tweaking to keep the pillion pegs.

They have plans making a batch in the next month or so.
Think there around the $550.00 US mark. 8)

I think mine was in the $700s delivered. The exchange rate was nearly $1 AUD to $1 US then.

Don't know if this pic will work

Thanks for the pic - the pipe (and bike!) looks good - quite short at the loud end so may be why it's not suited to sneaky runs ? The badge looks similar to the Yoshimura emblem, is it a stainless system? The bloody exchange rate is killing me too - every time I buy something from the u/s of A it gets worse and I get ripped! (especially when you have to pay $40USD for freight for anything larger than a bee's dick!)

Yes is stainless system.

There is heaps of info out there about the guy that manufacture them, I thought I read somewhere that he did some spanner work or development for Yoshi, can't remember but here is a place to start looking if you interested

and yeah postage sucks big time but this zorst is in a couple of parts so brings postage down a little. Sorry for being so vague, must be old timers disease

Got my Delkevic SS 4:1 yesterday - looks great and hoping to get it fitted soon - pics to come.
$569-95 incl GST and postage from QLD (price used to be $399-95 but this was recently revised
as they had priced it incorrectly and were taking a loss - so they said. Anyway still a good price
and only took 3 days from Delkevic Oz in QLD.

Got a bit of time to "play" over the weekend and started to fit the Delkevic system, It came with all the stuff you see in the picture in my original post
as well as that there is a spring puller, a tube of hi-temp grease for assembly and a centre stand "stopper."
It's a very well engineered bit of kit - a bit tricky to fit the nuts to the inner 2 headers with frame members
being very close to the studs and a close fit of the flanges on the studs.
Quality of the welds has to be seen to be believed - very neat with good penetration.
Hope to complete the assembly this week - will take some pics and post 'em.
