Woo Hoo, it lives. After getting the cam timing right she fired up . Worked out it does not have MK2 crank and cams, darn. Pretty chuffed as I think this bike was dismantled about 12 years ago. Will post a pic when I calm down, lol.

Well done. It is so satifying when comes to life and it proves any doubters wrong.

Just saw this post again after not being on this forum for a while. Really interesting to see the trail. I've regretted selling this bike a few times as the Z1000MKII was one of my alltime favourite bikes. Really happy and jealous of the new owner, not to mention impressed that the problem has been found. :kuda: :D

Brewster - that is a GPz1100B1 motor - 1981 vintage. Pretty early in the build range as well.

Thanks mate.
My resto has stalled due to a massive house renovation but I'm getting close to having time for the A1.

heh Bob - if that motor is all original and complete, the B1 still had the injector ports cast into the cylinder head. Later B2 and ZX1100A1 models didn't, the injectors were on the throttle bodies.

Will have a look at a couple of 1100A1 motors in the 4th tomorrow and confirm that engine number :kuda:
