Gosling1 wrote:thanks buddy :) - yeh that 'fightered GPz has a ZX9 tailpiece and I think a ZX9 swingarm - the very last model had a swingarm like this. I want one just like it  - I probably won't make a start on this build until next year as I have to save for the trip overseas :? - but basically I will be doing a streetfighter build based on a 1984 ZX1100 with ZX9 rear end, ZX6RR front end, that old Shadowfax-style fibreglass tank and some MX bars !!  It will look like nothing else out there !!

But for the moment - concentrating on Cherry so I have something to ride !

You have a good lol, that Gpz is mine and she has had a fair bit of work done to it. The swingarm is actually ZX10R and whilst not to difficult to fit the repositioning of the engine to line everything up was a bit out there.

I reckon it looks great - would have been good to see a picture with the seat fitted ?

I wondered about the chain run - it would have needed a bit of work. Did you run an offset front sprocket ? These motors have the same spec on the output shaft as the ZZR1100C- model motors (as well as a few other later models) - but the C-model has a 24mm offset !!! its massive, I fitted a ZX1100A1 motor into a z750 frame - used a C-model front sprocket - and the chain run lined up perfectly with a 4.5" rim fitted with a 160 tyre. Clearances are tight......but it works :kuda:

any chance you could bung up some more photos of your bike ? I would have thought that a ZX10R swingarm would be too wide across the swingarm pivot - and what year ZX10R swingarm is that one ?

Yes the ZZR offset sprocket is the go but the engine still needed to go a few mil over. I'm running a 190 tyre so it needed a bit of work. The swingarm is zx10r 2005 from memory and yes it was to wide so that was milled to fit. I put a later image up in the intro section with the seat done and the front end completed. See what I can do for some other pics, don't want to hijack your thread:)

sensational. This is one thread hijack that I am happy to see go on and on !!!

I have done quite a bit to Cherry recently, no photos as yet, but heaps of the smaller parts have all been detailed, the wheels in particular have come up really well  no tyres fitted as yet - and still waiting on a delivery of a lot of special bits from Z1 Enterprises - hopefully they will be here this week. :kuda:

Then I can start bunging everything back together !!

well time to get back on track with the build.....

A nice bag of goodies landed in the PO box this week from Z1 Enterprises. So I could start work on putting things back together. New swingarm bearings at the top of the list.....here is a shot of the back end with the swingarm fitted, and also the nice ZRX shocks that Glenno has donated to this build :kuda: goodonya mate, they look great !

I mentioned a few posts ago about how good the wheels came up with some serious time on the polishing wheel and some elbow grease as well. Here is the proof....

Front wheel

Back wheel

They look really good in the flesh.

New wheel bearings have been fitted all round, and also to the rear sprocket hub. A lot of the smaller parts have been painted up - I haven't bothered taking photos of them all, but things like the battery box, rear m/c, brake arm, sidestand, headlight shell, triple clamps etc etc - all of these are looking pretty flash in a few coats of gloss black.

The wheels are heading into the shop tomorrow, to have some Dunlop TT100 (GP compound) tyres fitted. Sticky

This will allow me to get the rolling chassis.....rolling. Have some more detailing work on things like the wiring harness, switch blocks and a few other smaller bits. Happy to just tick this one along......and still some more parts needed from Z1 these will be ordered over the next few weeks.
