surprisingly - not

With stock compression - its pretty low for the early bikes around 8.5:1 or so - and in a good state of tune - all you basically do is push your foot through the action. You don't need to get up and *wallop* through the action like you do on a big 4-stroke single - its more of a slow and steady push.

Next time I have an old zed handy somewhere in your vicinity - I'll give you a go its always funny watching the looks on the Gen Y kids when they see a 4 cylinder bike being 'kicked in the guts' !!

Kicking a multi is weird , not hard . Try kicking a yz 426 for hard

I don't think so, just a standard Harley fairing.

No remote starters back then, and the starter had long giving up.

Yep, the cops used to use a copy of the Windjammer on their bikes back in the 70's.

I threw out one of those massive big sails a few years ago - it came with the '77 Z1000A1 I picked up back in about 2002? Bloody huge thing it was, but did provide a lot of wind protection.......
