Kawa 100 sports g7 clutch issue

Hi guys

Picked up a 74 kawa 100 sports g7 the other week, was in a few pieces at the time but have it back together and running

Am having issues with the clutch, replaced the orig oil with a car oil that was in the shed, i think it turned out to include a friction modifyer, changed that for a shell bike specific oil once but am having issue with the clutch slipping still, also the clutch is failing to disengage some times when i pull the lever in, tonight i have changed the oil again thinking that it might help and haven't had a chance to retest yet, when the clutch fails to disengage when i pull the ever in it either stalls going from neutral to 1st or changes gear like i'm not using the clutch at all between gears

If it was only slipping or only grabbing i could understand but doing both is confusing?

Sorry for the long post but wanted to try to give the whole picture

Cheers

Matt

Matt you may need to pull out the clutch basket & clean the entire clutch plates & basket.
You also may need to flush the system to remove all traces of the car oil.
Also check that the plates are installed in the correct order

It takes about 30 mins to remove and reinstall the clutch in these.
Can be done with the engine in the bike.
Tools-
Philips head screw driver or impact driver to remove the screws retining the covers.
Circlip pliers - internal
flat blade screwdriver and flogtometer to flatten out the retaining washer that holds in place the..
19mm nut afixed to then end of the crank that drives the clutch basket.
Black silastic / form a gasket goop to put it all back together.

Clean the fibre and steel plates and re-assemble.
All else fails get new clutch plates. Barnett do them for about $150 the lot. G4 - G7, KV 100, KE100 through to about 1989 KH100 use the same clutch assembly.
If you go with new then flush the gearbox clean with fuel before fitting and re fill with ATF. ;)
ATF will not work with plates previously used with other oils.
