I've just bought a Motoplast frame for my GSX1100 race bike.
It has a really long steering head 220mm so I need a long steering stem.
Is anyone aware of any bikes that may have come with a long steering head stem?
Would need 260mm plus.

Richo - best bet would be to have one turned up and press-fit into whatever lower clamp you want to use. I checked all my triple-clamp stems tonight (big box) and nothing even close to 260mm long......all of them were much shorter than that.

Any engineering shop will be able to turn up a custom stem, and should be able to press it into your lower triple.....

Jesus Gos, I wish I knew half as much about muddboiks as you do mate!!!! I guess all those years of being forced to work things out for yourself have paid off!!!

How's the MFP12 project coming along by the way mate? Been too tied up with the thirty thousand other jobs you got on???

easy there big fellah, I reckon you have forgotten more about bikes than I will ever know

MFP12 is currently regoed and on the road - all back to *normal* sort-of, running blue nose-cone and l/h side fairing, OEM r/hand side, tank cover and ducktail. It almost looks like a normal motorbike ! - but it is great to be back and riding it - I knocked up another version of 4th Dimension heli-bars, these ones work way better than the first version and very comfy. Only some small mods needed to this design - and the 3rd version will be perfect !!

So much on at the moment, but a couple of projects are humming along nicely......winter can be good like that

The guy I bought the frame from found the bottom triple clamp so looks like the stem problem is solved.

From memory, the frames were brought in by the Ducati mob at Gowanloch's in the 80s.
They might have a bit of info, or even contacts.
Worth a phone call, anyway.

Ian Gowanloch spends more time drinking red wine these days at Adelong than he does playing on those temperamental italian mistresses...... - but he may still have some odd bits 'n pieces kicking around for one of these ?

Frame looks good Rich - but whats the go with the seat tubes ?? One looks way longer than the other ??

The seat tubes are removable and adjustable for length.
Must be for lard arses and skinny arses.
Only one seat tube is on the frame.
