Not sure that it made that much difference from the back, will get it out of the shed when the weather clears to get a better idea. Both were tucked in nicely but the oval shape seems to fit better. I would have liked it to have been a little bigger to fill the space completely.

Thanks mate, no worries just shit stirring you a bit, I was hoping the Z900 light would look so good I would decide 'Yep, thats the one' but now it has made the decision a hard one. Was it easier to fit onto the eliminator than the Z1000 light? Considering I have the Z1000 and it does seem to fill up the space a lot better....... I am thinking about this way too much!!!!!!

Yeah I tend to do the same thing. Fitting it is much the same with each. I suppose if your original is in good nick then use it for a while. I suppose it also depends on how original you wanted to keep it.

Here is a pic from the side and I think it probably looks a little better, but in my opinion there is not much in it.

Hey Kwakked Up, just fitting Keinin carbs with K&N pods similar to yours, been told that side covers may blow off due to turbulence created when original air box stuff removed to make room for the pods. Have you had this problem and if so how did you fix?

I figure drill small hole in the bits that go through the rubber grommets and then wire up somehow but looking for suggestions

drill and pin the sidecover posts on the inside of the rubber grommets. I normally use split-pins, but you can use anything really - a bent nail ;) a keyring  or even a small R-clip. They all work. You only need to do the front and lower posts, not the rear - if the front and lower are pinned - those sidecovers are not falling off :kuda:

Hey Kwakked Up,

It's been month's since I have had a look at your progress and mate, you've got to be pretty happy with what you've done. The Rickman has taken a lot longer and cost a lot more money than I had expected. The budget downfall started with the crankshaft being on it's last legs, so a $1500 replacement was ordered from Kipkawa in the UK.Balanced and lightened by 2.2kg it should rev quite well and the budget went down hill from there.Just wondering as my son has taken a lot of pic's,would anyone be interested in seeing an old postman rebuild his life time dream bike and the highs and lows that have transpired so far.

Cheers from Pete.
