The 4th gets a new addition.......

Picked up a new bike today - one I have lusted after for many years........
the one I collected is not quite in this condition
- but nearly everything is there, the bodywork needs some TLC, but by and large it should be a pretty easy build. Previously belonged to a member of cR down here, was bought as a 'project' bike, and now it has a new home in the 4th.
These rigs were never as popular as the GPz900R, the motor is basically identical to the 900R but bored and stroked out to 997cc. The frame is a steel 'perimeter' frame, its pretty big across the beam !!
...
This motor continued being used for many years after this model was discontinued. The ZX10 from 87/88 used the same motor, with some changes to the valve train and a lighter crank. This engine was upgraded again for the ZZR1100 with bigger valves and larger crankpins, but retained the 58mm stroke.
Plenty of work to do with this bike, the engine is complete but head is off, clutch basket has a couple of broken spring towers so this will need to be replaced. Lots of boxes of .....stuff.....to sort through. Should be lots of fun....
