Hey James,
You've ridden the Z thou and obviously the Z750.

Why is the 750 outselling the thou 4:1?

Looks, Weight, power diference, costs, ??????

(IMVHO, you should have kept the ZRX!!!!)

As a potential buyer, I'd have to say cost is a signifcant factor. I can't see much point in spending more money just to have a bigger engine, when the 750 will do more than I need it to anyway. I can honestly say I have no real desire to own a 1000cc machine...the mid size bikes do all I need.

I would have to agree, for the price and what you get they are one outstanding machine.

The only difference in the machines are the capacity and the Z1000 has USD forks.

The new Z750's have the ZX10 Rims, the demo at Midtown is black and has a stainless Micron!! looks sweet.

Just on that Midtown are running out their 04 Z1000's at 13990 ride away, I think that is with only 6 months rego but still bloody good.

I was going to buy my brothers SV650S when he upgrades, maybe next year, but it looks like it might be a bit of a stretch. What with getting the girl on a bike and all. Just dunno if the ER would be a good bike for her to start out on. It might be the best option though, as we'd have two pretty good bikes, not bikes of unknown origin...

But Z750 still top of my list of new bikes...

Looks are similar.
Weight is similar.
Hp is 15hp different according to the blurb. However the 1000 is dissapointing in that it has no bottom end. (Anyone who says the 1000 has a bottom end has never ridden a ZRX) The fact that the 1000 has a fantastic top end only exagerates this. The Z750 is geared differently which makes it more responsive at lower revs than the 1000. In comparisons Ive read, there is very little difference in performance stats. The Z1000 obviously wins them all by a slim margin, except for braking where the Z750's 'budget' brakes pull it up quicker than the 1000's 'trick' brakes.

Price is probably the biggest thing, in the range of $4000 difference in RRP including on road costs - $16700 Vs $12200 if memory serves correct.

i find any bike gets hot, especially on really hot days in traffic i dont
think its gunna matter wot bike it is, the heat it generates has to go
sumwhere...another good reason NOT to wear shorts on a bike...

Ok, seeing as a couple of you guys own them, answer me this:
I have read a couple of test reports (different people, different magazines) mention the heat coming off them. I also get a fair amount of heat off the ER in slow traffic, so would it be any worse, or about the same? ie do you find it uncomfortable, or it is a non-issue (be honest!)??

Yeah I've read that test too Felix and I can honestly say that the heat really is no worse than any other bike I've had.
We had the Tassie Toy Run on saturday. It was a walking pace 20+ minute ride, two-up, on a 25 degree day with over 7,000 other bikes and the temperature sat on 106 degrees the whole way!!!
BUT the heat coming off the bike was not an issue.
James, the review does exist and I'm certain it was an Australian test. I read it in the local paper one day. The tester had nothing else to complain about with the bike so as the heat thing is a non-issue, that means the Z750 must be perfect, right?

Size is different too - z1000 was more comfortable for me than the z750 when I sat on them.

Hi Daniel, welcome on board.
You would be the Z750 I tagged at Salamanca then I assume :)

daniel wrote:I was also on the Tasmanian toy run and my z750 didn't even hit 100 degrees.

My temp was definitely over 100 all the way & peaked at 106 degrees for a while too.
Might have had something to do with the fact that I was only doing about 15-20 kph all the way so that my festively jolly bloody pillion could give 'high fives' to every kid lined up on the side of the road though :?

Hi Z750 owners!

While we're talking about this bike any idea why the Givi topbox only holds 6kg when mounted on this bike? Is there some bendable shitty fragile subframe under the ducktail? They normally hold around 8kg, and I reckon I'd get pretty close to that every now and again.

BTW, yeah I know it will look shithouse, but I need one...

..and I prefer the black to the blue (the red was also better than the blue). I'd be pretty cool in green as well.

Thanks
