Classic Kawasaki Corner....

Here we are, at the Dawn of a New Beginning...............

Its the Age of Zedqaurius.

To kick things off, this Topic is basically a new addition to KSRC, to cater to those more mature members who can remember when a Kawasaki was a screaming 2-stroke that threatened to pollute your street in one easy pass ...... Mmmmm I love the smell of Castrol R30 in the mornings ..........when Gough Whitlam strode tall through the streets of Canberra........when FUEL WAS 50c per gallon !!!!! and before half the resident population of KSRC was a smile on the old mans dial...

So if you remember what an A1R is, or a W650, or even a Z1000D1, this is the place for you (oh, even bikes up to the 90's :? keep them to a minimum eh ? )

cheers

About time someone looked after the old school kwakas I love my 70's & 80's bikes when the rider did most of the work not the bike

Most of those bikes were classics before even you were old enough to ride Gos..
I believe the A1R came out in about 69..? Z1000 in 78 :?:

My first road bike was a gpz500 in about 86 or 87, followed by a gpx750.
Apart from motocrossers these are the only "Classic" bikes I have owned. Although I wouldn't really call either a classic..

Yep, the old-school Kwakka's have taught a lot of us how to ride......

If anyone has any good stories about their old kwakka's, or good photos of their old bikes, etc etc, then this is the place to bung them up.

Within 3 years time, even the first ZX10 will be over 20 years old..... , and my old Z1000 will be eligible for Vintage registration !!    where's my walking stick ??

MK - maybe not the 500, but the GPX for sure - they spawned the entire ZXR range . I have some *Ace* posters of Robbie Phillis on the Aussie Superbike title-winning machine of 1988............don't know if I can shrink them to fit here ......

I gotta get the scanner going ASAP !!!! :D

good idea with the new topic,
though i don't think it really belongs in the off topic section.
they might be old, but i think they're still considered bikes.
perhaps under the general discussion banner, just below bike model discussion.
oh, and maybe drag a few relevant threads in there.

just a thought or two.

Here is a pic of my 1980/1981???? Z250 B twin prior to me restoring it to it's original glory after a mate butchered it. I ended up buying one with a knackered motor and good body/frame/elecs and running gear and swapped the motors to make one good bike out of two faaarked ones!!! Ahh the memories

Pic top right!

This should be good. Even though I don't have much of a history riding bikes myself (beyond about 7 years), thanks to associating far too much with certain tragics who shall remain nameless, I am gaining un unhealthy interest in these old dungers.

I'm even trying to figure out how I can get a hold of one, for not too much money, that I can fix up and ride around in a manner that it was not originally designed for.

Something like the Goose in Mad Max riding circles around the carpark with his crutches I suspect
