That is definitely a MkII motor. The frame also looks to be the later style Z1000 frame. Not sure what the go is with the Z1R sidecovers ? They don't belong on that frame. The engine side-covers may have been changed out for earlier ones, this is not unusual at all....
Unless the cam sprockets have been changed, you normally don't see MkII heads on earlier bottom ends. The early motors run 15 tooth cranks and 30 tooth cam sprockets, MkII motors have 16 tooth cranks and 32 tooth cam sprockets. Although, that engine paint does not look stock to me, looks like it has seen a paint job recently ? Best guess is that you have a MkII and the seller has NFI !
