ABS or not?

nup..CONTROL gives u the best stoppies...

I'd go for it. I know that no matter how much I practise emergency braking, ABS will do a better job 90% of the time. Testing with professional riders prove that ABS invariably offers better stopping distance, and far more control in a variety of situations.

I'd prefer to have the insurance, personally. But of course it would depend on price. :)

Ok, my 2c's worth

ABS works by quickly activating then deactivating the brakes. This prevents a skid but also increases braking distance. On dry tarmac I would find it hard to really need it. Should you find yourself in wet/slippery/greasy conditions, then it may be worth it?

Also, look at the stats for the VFR800 VTEC (try Uk as Aus doesn't have ABS option). Take particular note of the varience in dry weight. It's a massive addition, and all unsprung weight. I reviewed an ABS version of this bike in 02/03, and found its brakes to great - I just didn't have the courage to test the ABS on the icy British roads, although it stopped from an indicated 148mph very well :shock:
