Z1000 pipes

Postby Wattie » Sat Mar 11, 2006 9:49 am

these are only slip ons, but what you reckon??

reason i dont want slip ons, is that the stock headers have like like rusty stains on them and go a gold colour with heat, and the new pipes are silver and wont get hot enough to get gold...
and the welds are looking rusty already...

There was a guy at PI who'd made his own, they looked awesome, (4 pipes in a carbon finish) he was going to join up.. :)

Four into one is the best option. 8) 8)

looks very wank

a 4-1 system like the zx9r uses would be best IMO, personally dont like the look of twin pipes on anything but v-twins

plus with a decent aftermarket 4-1 system, the Z might have a chance of weighing the same as a zx9r

this is what ya want:

http://www.akrapovic-exhaust.com/main/catalog/kawasaki/z1000_2003-04/racing&evo/bikeside.jpg
http://www.akrapovic-exhaust.com/main/catalog/kawasaki/z1000_2003-04/racing&evo/bikeback.jpg

all up that system saves 11kg from a stock Z1000  and gives it another 7rwhp ... slight dip in power over stock below 4000rpm, but after that a huge surge in midrange.... hella sexy too

this looks like good value and would definately be a good product, 4-1 full system...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-KAWA ... 0736QQrdZ1

us$470+us$100 shipping, works out pretty cheap at about au$760 delivered (you might need them to gift wrap it to avoid import duty, not sure tho)

you would be lucky to get a single slip on locally for much less than 500... and you'll need 2 with the stock system
