WTD: Help on Debaffling Z1k

Postby deafwish » Mon Oct 30, 2006 5:34 pm

I've seen the German PDF on how it's done (even translated it!) but I really don't trust myself doing it......
Anyone in Melbourne done this to their Z1000 that could potentially help me do it or even someone interstate that has a few pics of how it's done?
Thanks heaps! :)

Daz.

Mate, not trying to dissuade you, just be careful.

I don't think a set of stock pipes would be that cheap...and it does look like it severely screws with power delivery :).

you can almost guarantee that it would cause a power loss. Unless you fitted a PCIII with a custom map for gutted stock pipes  ( its probably on the Internet somewhere...)

what would look *really* cool is a current Z1000 with a set of 4 into 4 Z900 *original* pipes fitted :P :P - A job for someone who is good with the ole' Photoshop...

Didn't Tanya do that to her Z1K only to find power delivery issues? :?

Ayjayef didn't seem to have an issue..... :?
My bike used to have a Muzzy 4 into 1 system on without a PC111 and it ran fine.....
I'm thinking a much more restrictive 'debaffle' will also run fine...... :?
Hmmmm........ :?
What a pain! All I want is a bit more noise. The sewing machine noise really doesn't do it for me!

is that a fact? or what the previous owner told you??

if you dont like the noise, buy an ipod... works for me, i can still keep up with everyone, it makes enough noise with the airbox mod to make everyone turn their heads at you when you give it some.

Thanks Wattie.
It is what the previous owner said.......
Does the airbox mod not mess with the mixtures as much as the debaffle?

bastard!!! buy me one? please?

airbox mod doesnt do much, bit more air, bit more noise.

you just open up the normal hole a bit more.

when you do the pipes, i'd advise you block off the kleen system...

Now you are talking mate, thats the right stuff. You probably should do the airbox mod, or even use some better air filters (BMC, DNA, K&N etc) - then a dyno to get it tuned *just right* :P

Its worth checking out some of the US Z1000 sites (just Google it), and see if you can find some custom maps for your combo. There is *always* someone out there who has already done the hard yards with modifications......

want endless z1000 info?? check http://www.riderforums.com
its pretty good stuff on there. plenty of maps can be found too.

the kleen system is easy to fix, i cut the hose and stuck a tap off a sprinkler system in it, so i can open and shut it
makes a difference to the noise, nothing to performance..
stops popping and backfiring.
