Hey folks
Forgive the ignorant post, but curious what makes a good slip-on exhaust?
I'm having a bit of a perve at the market for my '04 Z750. I didn't mind the factory pipe, until a friend said my bike sounded like a family sedan

I believe they make a difference to the performance too...
Cheers

Hey Gyp,
I have a Remus slip-on pipe on mine, didn't buy it new though. The guy I bought it off on the KNRA forum had it on his Z750 for a short time, and he got it through Ebay. It makes a huge difference in sound, makes the bike sound a little more gutsy, although with the current Qld Police crack down on defects I am not sure it will pass the decibel test!
At this stage I haven't noticed a huge difference in performance. Mind you, I am yet to attack that problem. I believe that a correctly mapped PCIII will make the difference, especially in the low revs, such as when you go to take off, and the bike wants to nearly stall!
Cheers

Two main advantages are the wt saving (up to 12kg in extreme cases) & THE NOISE.

performance gains from just a slip on will be minimal.

Thanks Esie - hey, when did you get your Z750?! I couldnt find ANYONE in Brissie (esp gals) to go for a 750 ride. And wouldn't you know it, now I'm in Sydney *sigh*
Anyway - thanks for the advice. Any photos of your pipe? I'm still a little in the dark as to what brands are good/bad.
Cheers

Got a great job (hey, how many employers pay you to travel to London during terrorist bombings) hence my relocation to Sydney. The roads certainly arent as nice down here as they are up near Brisvegas, I assure you.
Is your slip-on a carbon finish?

Dunno about "dangerous", but "baffling" or "inexplicable" would certainly seem to fit.

I have just bought a zx12r and I was told by a bloke from Kawasaki Australia the best exhaust is a MADAZ. I bought one, put it on and it is sensational. Great sound, cheaper than most, made in Melbourne and the MADAZ mob are very professional. I can't sing their praises enough. Check them out at madaz.com.au, I rang them, ordered the exhaust, had it in five days.

Go for a full-system, I think one for a z1000 would also fit no probs.

But you can buy Z750 full systems. But if you're looking for 2nd hand, the Z1000 pipe is not a straight swap, but theres not much work to make it fit. Same goes for a ZX9R full system onto a Z1000/750.

Would a ZX9 slip on fit the Z750? how much work to get it to fit? what kind of work would be required?
ZX9 slipons are cheap as out of america (inc postage) where as Z750 pipes are not as easy to get "cheap"
Thanks

I tried a Staintune slip-on on my Z750. Im not sure what year model ZX9 it was, however it would have fit straight on if it had a muffler strap rather than a fixed bracket to mount it to the pegs. The ZX9 system is longer, so the muffler mount doesnt line up.
