GPX750 - project

Postby glinno » Tue May 21, 2013 11:08 pm

Hi All,

Just picked up a GPX750. Not many around so not sure i picked the right bike. Still, kinda unique. Look forward to picking your brains as it comes together over the next months

Excellent choice - I'm a big fan of GPX7s.

Cheers,

Ok, before pics I will take. The plans are extensive as although its in general good condition (one owner in 24 years!!) it hasn't been really well maintained. Engine good service, oil, plugs, ht leads, valve check, carby balance. Service gearbox, chain and sprockets replace. Brake hoses, pads, calliper overhaul, possibly rotors. Front suspension replace oil and springs. Poss head bearings. Not sure about rear shock but swinging arm bushes. Exhaust? Not sure. Haven't really investigated alternatives to the original pipes. Then tyres of course.
Paint is a bit rough so not sure again best way to deal with that yet.vinyl cover the faded black plastic to complete.

Problem is, will I be able to hold off taking it out until I have finished my plans??

I need a plan for my plans.

Where do I start!!,

Haynes manual arrived today, perhaps it will put things in perspective....

My understanding is that the GPX750 has the same engine as the Hi and H2 ZXR750 and that is no bad thing. :D
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R :) Yeah I like Kawasakis.

ummm...no, the two ZXR750s had the same engine as the GeePeeX7fiddy
and
having owned a GPx750 for a number of years..I can say the engine and gear box are excellent units

Do the GPXs have the rubber band driving the alternator too?

Mine was a F1 model ..in thats its actually a ZX750 F1 model
which i got 2nd hand from my local Kwaka dealer (as i traded my GPz 750)

it got used like it was meant to.... on a track

Image

I got the sales brochures

Image

and unfortunately it went down the road...due to a blind cager who didn't understand that a NO U TURN sign meant that ( i got a busted knee cap and footballers knee)

Image

but otherwise it did lots of kilometres with the boys here
