Help With GPZ900R Streetfighter

Postby Darkcode » Thu Dec 22, 2011 11:59 am

Before anyone says what am i doing destroying a gpz900r I have 2 that need restoration so im repairing one to the original standard and the other im going to streetfighter it.
Mods to go on streetfighter
Remake Rear Sub Frame to fit custom tail
Fuel injection system (microSquirt ECU)
Oversize piston kit by wisco 972cc
ZX10 USD forks/ front end (ie Brakes, Discs, Controls)
SWINGARM!!!!!!
Now this is my issue im looking at a single sided swingarm and leaning towards the vfr800 arm as alot of streetfighters use this.
Has anyone or does anyone now if this will work has anyone done this.

Thanks in advance.

Does a ZX10 front end fit on a 900? Do you have to use the 10 triple clamps as well? Interested to know how this conversion is done and how difficult it is. Can you do the same with ZX6 hardware?
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left. Phil

FK 'em if anyone dares to criticise - it's your bike, do what you want with it. I'm doing similar to one (although not in streetfighter style), also looking to add a ZX10R front end. Swingarm is the current hold-up, and for me I'm looking at ZXR750 type.

Cheers,

Try here.
www.streetfighters.com.au
If you can measure the width of the original swingarm at the pivot end I can tell you what SSSAs will fit easiest.

Will a ZRX engine fit? That is my fantasy GPZ900r mod. Ridden a GPZ with RX1000 donk in it. They seem to have bottom end issues though.
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R :) Yeah I like Kawasakis.

Seen a VFR arm on a Z900 a while ago. Might have pics if I went digging. Should be easier to set up on gpz- monoshock vs twin.

Yes - plenty of them in Japanese custom builds.

Much more intriguing to me, there's a Japanese shop that makes what they call a GPZ10R - you guessed it, not only front and back ends, but a ZX10R engine inserted ...

same motor for all intents and purposes.....I could fit a ZRX 11 or 12 motor into the 1000RX no probs. One of the new members here - Hoges- has built up a really nice 900R with a 1000RX motor in it.
