GPX 250 problem

hi i have a problem with my gpx250 it starts runs in idel but once its put into gear as soon as i let the clutch out just a littel it dies no matter how much rev i give it it dies straight away with no farward moshion wondering if u would have any idea

sounds like clutch switch or side stand switch.
does this bike start in gear?

sounds like a faulty side stand switch

i also have sum new simptons in nutul if i rev it to 6gs it sounds like its gonna explode like its all backed up or something only thing iv done is removed the lid on the air box to make it sound a bit beefier could that of helped stuff her up ?????

yer check your side stand switch with a multimeter,
is the air filter still in place, might be the carby slides your hearing.
did you re-tune the carbs once you removed the lid, the extra air going into your engine will need you to ricken it up otherwise you engine wont perform any better, and most probably worse

cheerz yer the airfilter is still in place and and carbs have been done any idear wer i can get a new stand switch if thats the problem cant get shit all in sa for them iv been trying to find top fairing for it and no wear in sa can help me :x

try findapart.com
ah before you go out and spend your money id check the switch, try disconecting the switch and bridging the wires (connect the two terminals together, may need a bit of elec cable for this)
start bike and see if it works, if not take out wire and see then, from memory bike should work with the wire connected to both terminals and not when disconnected, sound right haha.

you can run it without any dramas, i have it like that on my race bike.
although on my race bike i dont have a side stand,, so it would be in your best interest as this is a safety switch so you cant take off with the side stand down and go around a left hand corner and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :x
so to get you around this will be fine it wont harm your bike in any way, just look on ebay and put a post on findapart and order a switch and then fit it when it arrives :kuda:

I know this is probably a bit late, but with the GPX stopping after you engage it, is a common thing with the GPX.

If my bike isn't warmed up, as soon as I put it in gear, it stalls. It's just something the GPX does. I warm the clutch up, pull it in and out a few times before I head off.

I think thats mostly related to the clutch plates sticking together, same as why it always seems to be a bit rough changing from neutral in to first on most bikes when you first start them. they free up pretty quickly though

both my gpx's have had this problem when first cold, I have found that if you give it a few good revs when starting upto about 3-4000rpm, it helps to get the oil circulating and lubricate the clutch plates so u don't have this problem. You can also just roll your bike a little forward before selecting a gear that can also help.

Failing either of those, perhaps try a different oil...... I use Castrol Activ 4T
