If you have a leak you must be able to find it, If the oil has been overfilled you might have a small amount coming from the crankcase breather but I suspect given the age of the bike you might have a weeping gasket. This is a hard one because of any number of places it could be coming from, my suggestion would be some in depth detective work, you will need to look really carefully when you are going over the bike to determine the source.

High left ???? front or back. It could be you have a leaking or weeping front sprocket driveshaft seal. whaen oil is cold it takes a while to flow but when it heaps up obviously it thins and flows quicker. But the talc powder is ok and a good idea ;)

Yep.... replace the Gasket ;) should not be a hard job but order the Gasket & get it in before starting the work :D If you are unsure about what is involved, talk to the dealer you order the parts through, & if they are any good they should be able to get one of their mechanics to tell you what is involved.
