Where to get a 5PJ290 alternator belt for GPX750R?

Postby Mister_T » Sun Jul 03, 2016 1:09 pm

Hi folks,
Yes, the official part number is 59011-1052 (superceded by 59011-0035), but are there local suppliers of the generic part number 5PJ290?
I guess it is not a common item but I'm hoping to get a few cheaper than a part with a Kawasaki label on it.
The special tool for adjusting it, 57001-1235, seems cheap enough from overseas.
I have a goodly number of preventative mantenance tasks to perform and the belt is one of them.

No, there are no aftermarket belts of the size 5PJ290.
You have to go with genuine Kawasaki 59011-0035. At least these can still be had from time to time, I suppose when Bando gets around to making a batch. I have aquired one and have another on the way. I guess these unique parts won't be available for ever.
Which raises another question: Will the 7-rib belt and pulleys from the ZXR's fit on a GPX and align correctly? The later 7-rib part would be much more common (or perhaps less uncommon) in the future.

Here is a pic of the wee 5PJ290 Bando Ribace2 with a steel millimetre rule to show the diminutive size:
