Thu Nov 20, 2008 10:27 am

Hey guys,

I have just noticed a tiny (about 5mm x 2mm) hole in my exhaust, and was wondering if there is anything i can use to patch it, or am i better off going to get it welded. Its on the bottom, so im not fussed about looks

Its more than likely a drain hole if it is a slot, or is it crash damage? or Rust?

its definately new, didnt have a real close look as the bike was running when i found it, but I did have a quick feel, and it feels pretty manufactured come to think of it. Might have to take a closer look.

but if it is damage, what would be the best course of action?

I would suss it first, then if it is damage you can get an exhaust repair kit from repco etc

on closer inspection, It was a drain hole, with some dried mud around it, made it feel like rust.

Exhaust is in surprisingly good nick now that i look at it

mines in crap condition being that it was a rental bike, had been dropped on both sides and they were hitting the rear bar, the left has a dent on the inside and the other made one of the clips that holds the brake line wear away. all fixed now it has free movement {ie. move the muffles to the outside of the rear pegs}. 8)

Good to hear there is no work required :)

the right side is in good nick, except for a minor scuff on the side reom a previous owner, the left however, has a big dent where the sentre stand got bent in to it when the guy at some stage managed to drop it, bent the stand in far enough it was touching the chain

thats been fixed, and a new chain fitted. not sure if i should bother with fixing up the dent on the exhaust though, its not broken, just cosmetic really.

but other than that, and currently being caked with mud and needing a wash, its a good bike

I wouldnt worry about it, if its a bike you going to get rid of later on who cares, apart from resale. If its cosmetic dont worry about it
