rear suspension nut wrench

Postby gpxpunk » Thu Nov 20, 2008 6:39 pm

Hi all,

Need to Adjust the rear suuspension but the manual is asking for a "stem nut wrench", can you only get them at a bike shop or can you get them from super cheap and repco??? and if you can prices.

Other then that does anybody know how to adjust the setting without the wrench. i think i need spring compressors.

Cheers
Dave

If its the fixed 5/7 step version you can buy an adjustable C spanner which should do the job. Bike shop will do it if you bullship em abit about how much you are lloking forward to the NEW 600 when you (get opens, Baby bonus or grandad Kaks it from 70 smokes a day & a kink in the Oxygen line) ;)
I really should go have a look at the Zipper to see how it's done.

hahaha, yeh the 600 would be nice and im dreaming at the moment and screaming coz i keep seeing the zx6r that i want up for sale at great prices, but then again if i wait i might even get the later models which is a wet dream. but for now i need to get the 2fiddy going the way i like it, i might not do overtime today so i can go back to kelens to get the spanner, but can you adjust it while its off, or do you adjust when its on, since i have realised there isnt much space, and the adjustment is up the top instead of down the bottom of the shock

Ask the YOUR local bike shop for a job champ, they charge out 1st year apprentices at $99 an hour (pay them $11)....... & i've met a few of them that can't do what you just did. ;)

Now your ready to get the manual & service the forks 8)

Cheers nanna, i have both manuals at home already reading them start to finsh over and over. Im used too working on cars and the suspension is so easy, aswell as the radiator i had to replace coz i got a crack in the old one. My brother knows everything about bikes but doesnt have the time to help alot of the time so its sometimes on the phone to him or i just have a stab in the dark. i should be a bloody mechanic since my dads a mechanical engineer, grow up with mechanics all my life , but never had a chance to attack a bike till now so the 2fiddy is my hobby now.

As i am reading through the manuals i have realised they want you to strip the bike before attemping to do anything, they wanted me to loosen this and that take off overflow tank ignition moduals just to get the suspension. All i took off was the seat and side plastics. Was tight coz of my big hands, but i managed.
Was going to attempt doing the chain and sprockets but i still have abit more adjustment on the old one so i thought why waste it just use it till the end. but the amount i ride it will be soon.

Punk Out
Dave

Top Stuff Dave, Been helping to rebuild the neighbors "TRX8whateva" twin. We have a really good system. He's meticulous & works well from Manuals - I'm Compulsive & can do anything i've seen done. I'm a little annoyed at myself for waiting to get into my 40's before i started doing all this stuff myself. I Wasted a pile of money & usually got a below average job too boot.
Cheers Brett
