Hi thanks for that but i think that the hose you a talking about only is a drain for the drain hole around the fuel cap and if i blow air through there it will just come out at the dain hole, is there i breather vent between these two points?

Ok after lots of looking the hose spout on the bottom back of thank is just the drain hole for the fuel cap drain. Apparently the fuel tank breather is actually in the cap of the zzr so im off to pull it apart and make sure its all clean and open to breath. Other wise took it out yesterday it was a nice day and today is raining and cold so ill be testing again before doing the cap

Ok i went out raining and only did about 2-3ks and it started doing it i think it the stand switch fouling in the rain and until it gets that conecting drop out it strugles to knkw what to do. Im going to tape the hole switch, when its dry and see if this makes a difference on the next raining day as it seems to have past.

Ok after closer inspectoin the inside of the side stand switch is full of deteariated silicon should that be in there from new or has someone tried to repair this problem with silicone? Also while i was doing that the sun came out and i could hear the lid breather working fine with excaping fumes. So still on the stand switch has any one heard of that happening with the rain?

Ok went out again yesterday after tapeing side stand up and went good how ever it wasnt raining. today took it out and its raining, no problems so im sure that was the problem atm. So looked at the other bikes stand switch and looks in much the same condition plastic opening where wire goes in sitting there just waiting for rain to get pushed in as it sticks out and any fairing water around that area straight in there.

The sidestand switches are a bit of a joke. It is not a matter of if will fail, but when. I bypassed the sidestand switch on my KLR600 early in its life.
The sidestand switch is not a bad idea for new riders but after a while you get into the habit of checking/lifting the sidestand as part of your startup drill anyway.
On top of that, the clutch lever switch is no work of art, either. I eventually bypassed that as well. Maybe they are better these days and more like the front brake light switch, I don't know.

Leakage from the High Tension ignition leads is possible. It generally occurs where the lead touches some part of the bike such as a retaining clip or part of the engine such as the rocker cover. Vibration eventually wears the insulation at the contact point. I had this happen on my RC17. A few layers of electrical tape can be enough to fix it but I replaced the affected leads and wrapped some cut fuel line over the contact spot to prevent a recurrence.

Coils can develop cracks in their plastic casing. A combination of age and heat will cause this. On one of my RC17 coils, I could see the copper windings through the crack. It only became a problem in wet weather.

Worn leads and cracked coils are more of a problem on old bikes.
