newby - ZZR250

Postby gmeddy » Tue Dec 15, 2009 2:19 pm

Hi all, I'm new to Bikes pretty much, I'm lookin at a friends ZZR250 '98 thats been sitting out the back of her unit for 2yrs without being used, it has been dropped at some stage and the fairing could use replacing, front left and the head shroud around the headlight, and the right hand side is a bit scratched up too, so i'd probably get the full front end fairings.

i have just downloaded the GPX250 manual, and intend on giving it a real good service before attempting starting it.

Drain the fuel + carbies,
oil + filter change
air filter?
may need a new battery

- front brake is not working at all, but the fluid reservoir is holding full fluid. so i'm thinking i'll bleed it and see if it comes good.

radiator is still full of nice green coolant.

anything else i need to check? compression check maybe??

the tyres look good, i pumped them up to 25psi each, ?.
the throttle seems a little bit sticky, or dragging, i dont know how to explain it, not freely moving as i would expect it should.
how much $$ do you think i should offer her for it?
thanks. i'm looking forward to being a regular member of this club. 8)

Welcome to "The Club"
Have you had her running yet?
GPX I just fixed had Throttle sticking too and it was because the little
lead thingy on the end of the cable was stuck tight in the hole on the Carby end ;)

Don't see so many ZZR250s around lately. Welcome!

I have the ZZR250 supplement for the GPZ250 manual.

http://www.eightballmedia.com.au/zzr250/ZZ-R250%20service%20manual%20supplement.rar

Download it at that link. I still don't have the GPZ250 manual, which is the base part for the ZZR250 supplement and the GPX250 supplement which you already have.

Let us know how you go.
